Are you ready?

Play a pivotal role in the energy disruption! At backbone.one, we're transforming the energy market on both national and global scales. Join us in a dynamic, innovative environment where flexibility and creativity thrive. If you're passionate about shaping the future of energy, we are the right place.

We're seeking agile, motivated, and skilled team players who share our passion for innovation and market disruption

Your Role

Join us as a Junior Software QA Engineer, where you'll ensure the quality of our product and meet new requirements. You will create manual test cases using modern test software like Jira and Xray/Testrail, plan their execution based on sprint planning, execute, and report the results. Given our rapidly growing product that needs customization for different customer environments, you will design efficient test cases to thoroughly test our platform. You'll design the complete test suite in collaboration with our team.

Serve as the last line of defense, working closely with the Product Manager, Developers, and sometimes customers, serving as a bridge to ensure product quality.

As we expand rapidly, we seek self-sufficient team members who thrive in agile environments and are comfortable with methodologies and ceremonies like sprint planning, refinements, and retrospectives. You'll collaborate closely with Product Management and Agile Coaches to enhance your skillset, improve team velocity, and, most importantly, enhance the product.

You are responsible for

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and user stories.
  • Design and develop comprehensive Test Cases, Test Plans, and Test Strategies based on project specifications.
  • Execute manual testing to identify bugs, defects, and performance issues.
  • (optional) Create and maintain automated test scripts for regression testing and new features.
  • (optional) Perform API testing to ensure the functionality and integration of backend services (C#) with frontend components (Flutter).
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, and retrospective sessions following Agile Scrum practices.
  • Document and report defects, issues, and test results clearly to the team.
  • Collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve identified issues.

Skills we are looking for

  • Experience in writing and executing manual test cases
  • Ability to write and execute these tests for frontend systems in a cross-device environment
  • Experience with Jira or similar software planning tools
  • Expertise in analyzing the coverage of manual test cases to maximize efficiency
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with agile methodologies and testing techniques within that framework
  • Experience in test design and development in a test-driven environment (e.g., BDD or Cucumber)
  • Proven experience testing software to meet consumer and client needs (e.g., through visual and usability testing)
  • Experience analyzing and reporting bugs in Jira (or similar ALM/bug-tracking software)
  • Monitoring quality and performance of applications through performance, load, and security testing

Optional Skills:

  • Experience with performance and/or security testing
  • Experience with Flutter integration test automation and knowledge of C# backend technologies
  • ISTQB certification(s)

Tech Stack (flexible):

  • Jira Software (preferred)
  • Xray (preferred), TestRail, or similar manual testing/planning tools
  • Office 365
  • Postman (optional)

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Fluent English
  • German (optional)
  • Flexibility in an agile and dynamic work environment
  • Willingness to learn and advance in QA and testing methodologies
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving skills
  • Readiness for occasional overtime in urgent situations
  • Team player

Since we handle both manual and automated test cases, there's also the opportunity to transition this role into an Automation Engineer position down the line.
